Barnes & Thornburg LLP has announced that Joan Kluger has joined the IP department as a partner in the firm’s Delaware office. Kluger comes from Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP.
Mitchell Stabbe has moved his practice to Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP, joining as a partner from Locke Lord’s Washington DC office.
John L Welch has joined Wolf Greenfield’s trademark group as counsel. Welch was previously with the trademark and copyright group of Lando & Anastasi.
CPA Global has appointed David Shofi – formerly chief IP counsel at ATMI (now part of Entegris) – as vice president, IP strategy solutions.
IP specialist Metis Partners has added fashion and retail expert Ruby Chan to its team. Chan will help to develop Metis Partners’ IP brokerage services.
Canadian boutique Gowlings and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co (WLG), a UK law firm, are joining forces to create a new international firm called Gowling WLG. The new firm will launch in January 2016.
Clyde & Co has announced that David Wilkinson has joined its London office as head of the UK IP practice. Wilkinson was previously an IP partner at Bristows and more recently head of intellectual property at Stevens & Bolton.
Patrick J Concannon has joined Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP as a partner in its IP and business practices. Concannon joins from Locke Lord LLP.
The Canadian government has appointed Johanne Bélisle as the new chief executive of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, replacing Sylvain Laporte. The appointment takes effect on September 8 2015.
EIP has unveiled three new hires for its London legal team, strengthening its non-contentious and litigation practice. Rachel Bunn will be of counsel, while Alex Huck-Ananou and Angela Jack join as associates.
Dykema has added Jennifer Fraser to its IP practice group as a member of the firm’s Washington DC office. Fraser previously served as co-chair of Novak Druce Connolly Bove + Quigg LLP’s national trademark and copyright practice.
Kara Stoll, a former partner at Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner, has been unanimously confirmed by the US Senate for a seat on the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Stoll fills the spot vacated by former Chief Judge Randall Rader.

The UK lord chancellor has appointed four new individuals to hear trademark and design appeals. Philip Johnson and James Mellor QC will cover both trademarks and designs, while Martin Howe QC will cover designs only and Tom Mitcheson QC trademarks only.
