Erin Hennessy

Haynes and Boone has announced the addition of Erin Hennessy as partner in the firm’s New York office. Her practice focuses on trademark law, copyright law and internet and social media issues spanning many industries. She has also worked on various policy issues, including the launch of the new gTLDs, trademark dilution and cybersquatting. Hennessy previously served as chief trademark counsel at Time Warner and is currently acting counsel of the INTA board and vice chair of the INTA Political Action Committee.

Tenesa S Powell has been appointed of counsel in Dickinson Wright’s Las Vegas office. Powell specialises in trademark and copyright enforcement with an emphasis on internet-related infringement.

Paul Joseph

Paul Joseph has joined Norton Rose Fulbright’s IP team as a partner in London. Joseph, who joins from RPC, focuses on technology, data and IP disputes, primarily acting on claims relating to technology, trademarks, copyright, licensing, data and patents on both the customer and supplier side.

Pirkey Barber has added Michael S Metteauer, Christopher Weimer and Katherine Klammer Madianos to its roster of IP practitioners; the three join the firm’s Austin headquarters. Metteauer focuses his practice on strategic counselling and enforcement, with a particular emphasis on famous brands, non-traditional trademark rights and internet issues. Weimer practises trademark, unfair competition, trade secret and copyright law, with a focus on disputes and litigation. Klammer Madianos guides clients through the complete trademark life cycle.

Marcela Robledo

Baker McKenzie has hired IP transactional lawyer Marcela Robledo as partner within its Northern California offices. Robledo’s practice focuses on the IP and technology aspects of corporate and transactional matters such as M&A transactions, financing, debt arrangements, licensing and joint ventures. She joins the firm from Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett and is based in San Francisco.

Chilean law firm Sáenz de Santa María Abogados has announced the hire of Alexandra Howard, who joins the firm as a partner. Howard’s practice concentrates on the prosecution and protection of IP rights.

Buchalter has hired four attorneys to its Seattle office, two of which are members of the firm’s IP group. John B Crosetto advises clients on matters relating to trademarks, trade secrets, trade dress, false advertising and unfair competition, while Scott G Warner handles a range of IP issues, including copyright, trademark, licensing and distribution, e-commerce, privacy and data security, and domain name disputes.

Ed Harrison

Ed Harrison has been appointed to the role of trademark director at Mewburn Ellis. The firm unveiled its new patent and trademark director role pathway in early 2019 – in an effort to attract senior IP talent in a non-equity capacity. New trademark director Harrison sits within the outfit’s trademark group, working closely alongside former Chartered Institute of Trademark Attorneys chair Kate O’Rourke, who joined the side in 2019.

Greenberg Traurig has publicised a number of promotions including three members of its New York office’s IP and technology practice: Julie P Bookbinder has been elevated to the position of shareholder and Jeffrey R Colin and Brian Prew have been promoted to of counsel.

Dickinson Wright has expanded its Phoenix office with the recent employment of Flavia Campbell. Campbell’s practice focuses on trademarks and copyrights, advising clients on the selection, clearance and prosecution of trademarks both in the United States and abroad.

Sonia Ong has rejoined Baker McKenzie’s Malaysia member firm Wong & Partners as a partner. Her practice focuses on technology, media and telecommunications, with a strong background in IP, data privacy, technology, outsourcing, advertising and media, and commercial negotiations.

Richard Goddard

Richard Goddard, trademark counsel at BP, has officially commenced his two-year term as president of the Chartered Institute of Trademark Attorneys. Goddard served as vice president from 2018 to 2020 and was unanimously voted in by the organisation’s council to succeed Tania Clark.

AnJie has announced the appointment of Zhao Xu to partner within the firm’s Shanghai office. Xu’s practice focuses on patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets.
