Clyde & Co has announced the appointment of Elliot Papageorgiou as a partner in its Shanghai office. He joins from Rouse, where for the past 12 years he has built a practice in Asia-Pacific and especially China, focusing on the full IP lifecycle, from strategic protection and portfolio advice, through to exploitation and commercialisation, enforcement and litigation. Papageorgiou is accompanied by a team of four China-qualified and licensed lawyers, including one who is also a China-qualified and licensed patent attorney.
Kent B Goss and Valerie M Goo have moved to Crowell & Moring’s litigation group. Goss’s practice focuses on trademark, copyright and trade secret disputes, with clients including Fortune 100 and 500 companies, consumer electronics companies, professional athletes, actors, entertainment companies, clothing companies and department stores. Goo’s expertise includes trademark, trade secret and copyright cases, as well as complex commercial litigation, unfair competition, false advertising and class action disputes. Both join the firm’s Los Angeles office from Orrick.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) has appointed Hélène Nicora as chief representative officer – Europe. She started at INTA in February 2013 and in her new role will lead INTA’s operations in Brussels and at national level in Europe, including providing representation to the EU institutions and other stakeholder groups and advising on and implementing INTA’s policies, membership development and communications. Nicora will head a team of three.
Greg Shatan has joined Bortstein Legal Group as a partner. Shatan’s practice focuses on IP and technology transactions, internet and domain name law and policy, and trademark licensing, protection and enforcement. He is also currently president of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number’s IP Constituency.
Dorsey & Whitney has announced that Jeremy T Elman is joining the firm’s IP litigation group in Palo Alto as a partner. His practice focuses primarily on patent litigation, although he also has extensive experience with trademark, copyright and trade secret cases. Over the course of his 15-year career he has represented many of the world’s largest technology companies and consumer brands, as well as technology start-ups, with respect to complex IP issues involving both litigation and counselling.
Seven IP attorneys have moved to Munck Wilson Mandala from Howison & Arnott, including Gregory Howison, John Arnott and Brian Walker. They are accompanied by senior counsels Andrew Graham, Edward Jorgenson and Steven Greenfield, as well as associate Keith Harden. Howison, who established Howison & Arnott in 1999, has over 35 years’ experience in IP law. Arnott previously chaired Howison and Arnott’s trademark practice and boasts more than 23 years of IP law experience in trademark and patent law representing clients in aircraft, automotive systems, automation equipment, sports equipment and e-commerce.
Kelley Drye & Warren has elected Sarah Cronin to partner. Cronin represents media and entertainment companies on a variety of litigation matters, including trademark, copyright, defamation, invasion of privacy, publicity rights, breach of contract, employment, cyber-piracy and domain name retrieval through the World Intellectual Property Organisation.
Jones Day has announced that Andrea Jeffries and Emily Tait have joined as partners in its IP practice in Los Angeles and Detroit, respectively. Jeffries focuses her practice primarily on IP disputes involving trademarks, patents and copyrights, and has served clients in a wide range of IP matters in the computer, semiconductor, consumer products and life sciences sectors. For over 15 years, Tait has advised clients on trademark, patent, copyright and trade secret issues across a range of technologies.
