As a partner in our IP group in Singapore and part of the media, entertainment and sports team, I focus on contentious IP matters including IP infringement litigation, patent revocation actions and trademark oppositions. I also advise clients extensively on non-contentious matters including IP commercialisation, patent and trademark freedom-to-operate issues, and brand protection.

As a lawyer and a patent attorney with a master’s degree in chemical engineering, I have a keen interest in how things work and a deep appreciation of not only the legal issues but also the technology underlying our clients’ businesses. As a former engineer, I understand the difficulty that many clients have with lawyerspeak and strive to deliver practical, commercially minded advice.

I have acted for international media and technology companies in a range of patent, copyright and trademark disputes both before the Singaporean courts and the Singapore Trade Marks Registry. I regularly advise clients on patent validity, infringement and freedom-to-operate issues, and on multi-jurisdictional trademark conflict and enforcement issues. I am also experienced in drafting IP licence, R&D collaboration and development agreements.

I participate in various committees including the Association of Singapore Patent Attorneys’ Exco and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association’s copyright sub-committee. I am also on the Examination Committee for the Singapore Qualifying Examination for Singapore Patent Attorneys.
